OPTO-ELECTRONICS, Incorporated (RKB), a world leading supplier of machine vision and web inspection solutions, announced today that a leading German supplier of self-adhesive products, will integrate RKB patented, state-of-the-art Model 3020® OPTOMIZER® CCD Camera-based Video Web Inspection System.

The RKB Model 3020 OPTOMIZER will be utilized on a coating line and is designed, in this application, to inspect for coating streaks and scratches down to 0.004” (0.1mm) wide at top production speeds. The 3020 is a state-of-the-art, patented machine vision inspection solution that is used to automatically identify, detect, classify and display coating streaks and scratches that commonly occur in many types of coated material processes such as paper, film, foil, steel and other allied industry products.

RKB automated inspection technology allows all kinds of web-based material manufacturers to produce a high caliber product more cost-effectively. Unlike CCD line-scanning cameras, laser or phototransistor sensing solutions that do not work well, RKB Model 3020 does improve real-time processes and significantly reduces losses due to customer returns, quality concerns; mechanically or aesthetically, unnecessary machine down time, or damaged sensitive process equipment like supercalenders, printing blankets, treaters, etc.
