RKB Splice Detection System Selected By MeadWestvaco Corporation
The splice detector is a self contained unit designed to detect the presence of splices such as mill splices, butt splices, and overlap splices in moving webs of non-metallic material. The unit is able to monitor up to 16 webs of material (total thickness of 0.250") brought together for common processing for splices and to report by an alarm function to operational staff the presence of splices. No adjustments or calibration are required when the number of webs, type of webs, or caliper of material is changed the unit automatically adjusts itself to the new condition or conditions. Calibration may be required if the type of splice tape used is changed. A very high degree of long-term stability is built into each and every splice detector through the use of top quality and state-of-the-art components.
Founded to meet the needs of multinational paper, film, foil, steel,
non-wovens and other allied manufacturers for web inspection related equipment,
R.K.B. designs, develops, manufactures, and markets the most diverse line of
machine vision web inspection solutions in the world. R.K.B was the first
commercial on-line web inspection supplier in the world. With more than fifty
years experience in web inspection development, techniques and solutions, R.K.B
has significantly extended the benefits of automatic optical web inspection.
Early R.K.B systems were based on patented ultraviolet, photomultiplier and
infrared, phototransistor technology. In the 1970’s, R.K.B developed and
patented the first camera-based system called the Vidicon 7000. Using the most
advanced technology available, RKB’s streak detection systems can monitor and
detect streaks and scratches down to sizes that no other company can achieve no
matter what process speed you’re manufacturing at. Our patented streak detection
technology truly is the latest breakthrough in the art of defect fault
detection. This advanced scanner truly represents a quantum leap forward in the
technology! |
