R.K.B. and our partners offer our customers with a comprehensive solution that are not affected by discrete basis weight changes, changes in caliper of material, color of material, machine production speeds and type of defects.  

 

The Model 1032 Classic® Splice Detector™ Technology monitors the "Material Thickness (Caliper)" value of web based products such as paper, film, rubber, and plastics that the technology is applied to.  Due to its proprietary design, the material being monitored, which is a medium or substance, transmits electric force without conduction; an insulator if you will, and as such, any sudden and abrupt change in its dielectric value will create a very subtle differential that is picked up and reported.  At the point of differential, the dielectric value is "out of sync".  This signal, measured in the microvolt level is processed with proprietary circuitry that outputs an electronic signal representative of a splice (joint) tape fault.  Since this detection is performed on a comparative basis, long term variances in material caliper, coat weight, basis weight, and other mechanical properties are noneffective and do not interfere with actual detection and results.  This means there is never a false signal due to material electronic noise which negatively affect photo-eye sensors and ultrasonic type sensors.  The Model 1032 Classic® Splice Detector™ Technology is auto-calibrating which eliminates any need for operational adjustments when you change grades of material, material weight, type of material, color of material and number of material webs which can all be processed at one common inspection point.  Additionally, the Model 1032 Classic® Splice Detector™ Technology is not compromised relative to process speed meaning it can be applied to any line 30 fpm (9.144 m/min) to well above 10000 fpm (3048 meter m/min).  Each Model 1032 Classic® Splice Detector™ Technology comes with an internal amber alarm indicator to indicate a "splice fault" as well as the red power indicator lamp.  In addition, a dry contact relay is provided so customers can output splice signals to activate sheeter reject gates, audio/visual alarms, counters, edge marking systems, plc units and other various control type systems.  The technology is designed for input power of 120/220 VAC, single phase, 50/60 Hz.   The dry output contact closures are rated for 0.1 Amps @ 120VAC or 0.05 Amp @ 220VAC.  The unit also provides a DC digital pulse @ 10 milliseconds (+/-3) that is a low to high.
