R.K.B. Web Inspection Technology


Syracuse, NY, November 11, 2010 – R.K.B. OPTO-ELECTRONICS, INC., a leader in providing machine vision, web inspection, splice detection and quality assurance and control technologies, has been selected to supply its state of the art splice detector for metalized web materials.  This technology, based on resistive sensing, was developed in light that existing technologies such as photocells, ultrasonic, and inductive approaches could not provide consistent and reliable detection.  This technology is designed to monitor one full web of single or laminated grades between 1 and 600 microns thick up to speeds in excess of 2000 fpm.  Specially designed shock absorber components ensure that no adjustment upon grade changes are required and that wrinkles, which may not be a problem, are ignored.  Our "metalized splice detector" as we call it, will detect all known types of splices commonly used in metalized packaging material.  Additionally, the unit will work on normal paper and film as well.  Simple and very cost effective, the R.K.B. metalized splice detector is being implemented more commonly worldwide.
